I think I remember something about Simpsons writers (maybe even Conan himself) doing the same for Mr. Burns, consulting old dictionaries and thesauruses. Heard in Conan podcasts she has an old English book thesaurus that she learned all the crazy flowery word replacements. She was giving the writers a hard time keeping up. Murphy’s facial expressions are just incredible too. You can tell what her character is thinking from her tics. I liked the Schitt’s Creek David I’m Trying Very Hard Not To Connect With People Right Now Shirt one before just a little bit more. 201 was the episode that catapulted the show from “I’m watching this because people say it’s good” to “I legit like this”. Oh my god before they even start talking they pull upon him and the way he just looks over and has that headdress thing on had me dying! In the episode where someone dies at the motel, she asks Stevie “do we know HOW this man passed?” But the way she says “how” is so drawn out and distorted and it’s so random. It cracks me up every time I watch it. It was such a risk to make her character the way she is. It’s so easy to hate her sometimes but for some reason shes a great character. Both O’Hara and Murphy have splendid vocal ticks attached to Schitt’s Creek David I’m Trying Very Hard Not To Connect With People Right Now Shirt their characters which they deliver like nobody else. Murphy’s “Eww/Yay/Uggh David”, Moira’s ticks like ‘Bébé” and the beautiful way she calls David. O’Hara’s performance is the more impressive one for me. It takes a great actor to convincingly play a bad one. And her vocabulary is just delightful. O’Hara was no surprise for me. She is a comedy legend. That entire SCTV bunch of Candy, O’Hara, Ramis, Levy, Moranis, Short and Martin were/are something else. Murphy was the surprise. She is absolutely brilliant.
